Captain Joan teaches certification courses through the advanced levels and multihull. She holds the US Coast Guard 100-ton Master, Joan is an Instructor Evaluator for the American Sailing Association and former ASA National Education Director. She writes articles on teaching sailing and conducts seminars and training workshops throughout the U.S. and Virgin Islands. Joan holds a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota in adult learning.
She is also Education Director for the Black Boaters summit, an annual sailing event for African-Americans in the BVI.
